Mi Calculator 16.1.5 is Xiaomi's calculator app for Android. It is preinstalled on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones and is also offered on Google Play for other devices. Alongside simple arithmetic it offers a scientific mode and conversion tools for everyday tasks. The app is free, and you can download Mi Calculator for Android from Google Play.

Specifications

What it offers

A calculator is an app people open many times a week, and Xiaomi's version aims to cover more than the basics without becoming cluttered. The standard view handles everyday sums with a clear history, so you can check what you typed a moment ago or reuse a previous result. Switching modes reveals scientific functions such as trigonometry, logarithms and powers, useful for school and technical work. Conversion tools help with tasks that otherwise send you to a web search: lengths, weights, temperatures, areas and similar units, and often currency conversions based on online rates. Because the app is part of Xiaomi's system software on its own phones, it receives updates through the manufacturer's channels there, while owners of other phones can get it from Google Play.

Installing and updating

1. On Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones the app is usually preinstalled; update it through the system or the store.
2. On other phones, open the Mi Calculator page on Google Play and check that the developer is Xiaomi.
3. Xiaomi also lists the app in its own store at app.xiaomi.com.

Tips

• Use the history to check long calculations step by step.
• For currency conversions, remember that online rates can differ from what banks and card providers charge.
• Long-press the result to copy it into another app.
• Switch to scientific mode for brackets and order of operations in complex formulas.

Common mistakes to avoid

Percentages trip up many people: adding a discount and then tax is not the same as adding the difference in one step. Use brackets to make the order explicit, and check the history to see exactly what the calculator received. When results look strange, clear the entry and type the expression again rather than editing a long line on a small screen.

Privacy

A calculator should need very few permissions. Currency rates may require internet access, but there is no reason for a calculator to read contacts, messages or location. Install it only from Google Play or Xiaomi's store; fake calculator apps have been used to hide other content or show aggressive ads.
